Environmental damage insurance scheme ended 1.1.2025

The handling of environmental damage in Finland changed from the beginning of 2025. At that time, a new Environmental Damage Fund started operating.

Damages caused before 1.1.2025 will continue to be handled by the Environmental Insurance Centre. The notice of damage must be submitted within a five-year transition period, i.e. before 1.1.2030.
