Correction request
If a decision issued by the Finnish Environmental Insurance Centre is, in the opinion of the injured party, claimant or other involved party, based on insufficient or erroneous information, the party can file a correction request to have the decision adjusted. In the correction request, the party must specify what part of the decision should be corrected and state the grounds for their correction request.
Environmental Insurance Board
An injured party, claimant or other involved party who is unsatisfied with a compensation decision issued by the Finnish Environmental Insurance Centre, has the right to request a recommendation for a decision from the Environmental Insurance Board. The recommendation must be requested in writing from the Environmental Insurance Board. The request must be made within 60 days from the date the decision was issued, and it must include information on what part of the decision the party is unsatisfied with and on what grounds.
If the Finnish Environmental Insurance Centre does not observe the recommendation for a decision issued by the Environmental Insurance Board, it must notify the unsatisfied party and the Environmental Insurance Board on the new decision in writing and with grounds within 30 days from issuing the decision. The new decision must also include information on it deviating from the recommendation issued by the Environmental Insurance Board.
Processing by the Environmental Insurance Board is free of charge.
Lodging an appeal
Appeals relating to compensation can be lodged at the District Court only after the Environmental Insurance Board has given a statement on the compensation decision of the Finnish Environmental Insurance Centre.
